SSM Chairman, Shri Pramodji Deshmukh has
been elected unopposed as chairperson of AFARM on 20th November in
their forty sixth General Body Meet held at Pune.
Action
For Agricultural Renewal in Maharashtram (AFARM) is an apex institution that
was established in 1969 with a sole aim to co-ordinate various NGOs in their
task of providing drinking water and extending agriculture services to villages
in drought affected Maharashtra. The
present strength of Institutional members is 90. In addition, 241 NGOs across the State are
also enrolled as associate organizations.
SSM
has extended its valuable services in various fields like Education, Health,
Environments, Women Empowerment, Water Conservation and Agriculture for the
past sixty years. Responding at the
election of AFARM Chairpersonship, Pramodji said, “Need of Water Resource
Management has been intensified due to climate change. His priority will be suggesting positive
changes in Government Policies and working together with the individuals and
organizations to seek a long lasting remedy.”
